Jamnagar man held for threat call to Mumbai mayor | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Azad Maidan police on Wednesday detained a 20-year-old man from Jamnagar for allegedly threatening to kill and abusing Mumbai mayor and Shiv Sena corporator Kishori Pednekar. Police said he will be brought here on Thursday.
Pednekar received a call on December 22, 2020, when she was in office at BMC’s headquarters at CSMT. She responded after receiving multiple calls from an unknown number. Pednekar said that since she was clearing a file and leader of the House, along with some others were in office, she put the call on speaker mode.
Pednekar said, “As I received the call, the caller used abusive language. I was shocked, and never expected someone to use such language while talking to a woman. The caller did not mention any subject, but only said he was calling from Jamnagar and threatened to kill me. Others in office requested me to take it seriously and report it to police.”
The accused has been booked under sections 354A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506II (criminal intimidation), 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of woman) of IPC.
